WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT?

As part of an educational exercise, I was tasked with developing a Smart Home application aimed at providing a service to customers and a specific audience interested in achieving a more cost-effective and efficient technological home. My primary responsibility was to conduct extensive research on the target audience in order to gain profound insights into their characteristics, challenges, and needs.

Preliminary research

My research encompassed identifying the main user profiles, understanding their unique requirements, and pinpointing the challenges they face in the realm of home automation and technology integration. By delving deep into the target audience's preferences, lifestyles, and pain points, I aimed to gather valuable information that would inform the design and functionality of the Smart Home application.
The ultimate objective was to use this research to tailor the application's features, user interface, and user experience to effectively meet the needs and expectations of the identified user segments. This user-centered approach ensured that the Smart Home application would provide a seamless and satisfying experience for its users, ultimately contributing to the creation of more efficient and economical smart homes.

Pain points & challenges of your users

As I entered a less familiar world, the world of the smart home (mobile), I needed to learn different requirements for different homes while gaining an understanding of the needs of different people in different homes.
In the development of a smart home application project, it's important to understand that challenges are an integral part of the development process. These challenges include technical issues, security, project management, and usability. Therefore, developers and teams need to be prepared for a positive approach and to seek solutions to any problems that arise. With this approach, it's possible to successfully develop a smart home application that provides an enhanced user experience and contributes to the creation of an efficient and cost-effective smart home.

Research results

The research results in the field of smart homes highlight the capabilities and advantages of using smart technology in various areas. Since it is possible to control and manage the home remotely via the mobile phone or through voice commands using Amazon Alexa via devices like Amazon Echo, it enhances mobility and control over home devices. Energy savings become a gratifying experience, made possible through devices like the Nest Learning Thermostat, which adapts to user preferences and assists in energy conservation and temperature comfort improvement.
Philips Hue Smart Lighting enables remote control of lighting, provides personalized options regarding color and brightness, and allows setting automatic on-off schedules, thereby enhancing quality of life and convenience. Devices like Ring Video Doorbell and August Smart Lock improve security and safety at home, allowing remote response to events at the front gate and within the home, and offering smart solutions for access and locking.
In summary, the research findings emphasize the smart technology's ability to address various challenges and enhance user experience, save energy, and strengthen security and safety at home.
